While massive efforts are being made to educate and empower girls, more and more women are being held back – suppressed, unable to fulfill and burdened with trying to balance home, children and work. Women from lower income groups lack the relevant skills, education and voice to make their mark. Some women are being denied opportunities to work, learn and move forward in life – their human potential is being suppressed, and in some communities our mothers and sisters are neglected and prevented from moving forward. Our organization has always tried to provide as much employment and self-employment as possible to our mothers / sisters. Whether it is by giving sewing machines or employment skill training, the organization makes every effort.

Shiva Group of Institutions and Charitable Trust partners with an existing  livelihood unit, where a group of women come together to make and sell  handmade products. It mobilizes the necessary infrastructure and raw  material resources to grow the unit. In the next stage, when the women start earning, Shiva Group of Institutions and Charitable Trust identifies a potential woman changemaker, provides  coaching to the Mata and Bahano, builds their capacities to run the livelihood  unit, and motivates other women to work. In the final stage, the Women and  Girls form self-help groups, self-help groups, and women entrepreneurs. She also turns the livelihood unit into a hub called Shakti Kendra, where  women gather to work, develop new ideas for the welfare of the community, find solutions to their issues, etc.
